Enjoy Mona Vale Beach with Sun, Surf, and Fun!

Mona Vale Beach is a surf beach that runs south east for 1km between the rock platform that divides it from the Basin, to the foot of the 30m high shale cliff that separates it from it's southern neighbor Warriewood to which it is periodically joined. Basin Beach is a 300m semi circular beach in the lee of the northern Mona Vale Head.

Mona Vale Beach is located to the north of Warriewood Beach. Mona Vale is effectively two separate beaches, commencing at the Tombolo and trends south-southwest for 1.1km to the foot of the 30m high shale cliff that separates it from its southern neighbor Warriewood. The rock platform which splits the beach in two has a 25 meter ocean-fed lap pool and a smaller pool for the children.

The Basin usually has low surging waves, while Mona Vale and Warriewood are both rip-dominated beaches, with permanent rips against the rocks. The best break is during north-east to east swell when a good left forms over the reef at the northern end.

Surfing at Mona Vale

Mona Vale Beach is renowned among surfers for its excellent surfing conditions, especially at the northern end of the beach. Surfers flock here to catch exhilarating waves, particularly when north-easterly breezes prevail, making it a favorite spot for wave enthusiasts looking for a thrilling ride.

Rock Pools at Mona Vale Beach

Here, nature's ingenuity is on full display with a remarkable rock platform that splits the shoreline, creating a natural divider for the serene Main Beach. But what truly steals the show are the two magnificent swimming pools perched atop this rugged platform. Visitors are invited to indulge in a refreshing dip in the 25-metre lap pool, fed by the ocean's waters and offering a blissful swim. And what's more, it's free! And for the little ones, there's a charming, smaller pool designed for their enjoyment and safety. Set against the stunning backdrop of this picturesque beach, these pools provide a magical setting for swimming, promising both relaxation and excitement for all who come to enjoy them.

Main Beach - Mona Vale

Basking in the sunshine for a full kilometre towards the south-east, Mona Vale's main beach is a vision of beauty with its shimmering golden sands and waves that beckon surf enthusiasts to ride the tides. Here, small right-hand reef breaks provide the perfect playground for longboard aficionados seeking their next thrilling ride. While the beach is ideal for leisurely strolls along the shoreline, swimmers are encouraged to heed caution and stay within the flagged areas, as the surf can deliver a powerful punch and rip currents may be present.

The Basin

Towards the north of Mona Vale's Main Beach lies The Basin, a serene 300-metre semi-circular bay style shoreline which is protected by a sheer cliff face on the north side and a rocky outcrop to the south. Embraced by these natural formations, the Basin offers a tranquil escape from the bustling main beach. With calmer waters and a secluded ambience, it's an ideal spot for leisurely swims and relaxation. However there are no flagged areas for supervised swimming, so be aware of the conditions. The Basin is a great spot to enjoy the natural beauty of this 'feeling' of being in a secluded haven.

Rock Platform

In the midst of these two beaches, the sprawling rock platform invites children (and big children!) to embark on an adventure of exploring and discovering marine delights. Here, young adventurers can safely immerse themselves in the wonders and variety of marine life, spending countless hours splashing in the rock pools and uncovering hidden treasures along this rugged coastline. This natural divider, which separates the Basin from the Main Beach, adds charm and loads of fun to a Mona Vale Beach visit.
