Wategos Beach

Overview

Wategos Beach is located 2 km east of the Byron Bay town centre. A peaceful sheltered little beach that is ideal for families, a fantastic place to picnic, play in the sand and swim.

The little bend of beach side is named after the Watego family who settled the region in the 1930's and grew bananas and vegetables where the houses are presently. There are various Wategos Beach side holiday houses accessible to stay in.

You'll love the quiet excellence of this shielded ocean side on the northern side of Cape Byron. Shielded by the headland from the more out of control waters past, it's a fantastic spot to excursion and play. The nearby bottlenose dolphins use it for diversion too, flaunting their smooth riding abilities on the approaching waves.

You can prepare up your lunch on one of the free beachside grills and partake in your cookout around the ocean or at one of the outdoor tables.

After you've chilled and refueled you'll be prepared to handle the lofty strides at the ocean side's end up to Cape Byron and the beacon.

Waves ordinarily break continuously, pouring out over the wide shoal and inconsistent reef, creating a more amiable surf reasonable for long boards. And it is ideal for swimmnig, sun bathing and surf. And it is also good place for rock fishing.
